August 18: Cecret Lake and Peter drives!

Many big events today for me and my family. The biggest of all is that Peter is now legally able to drive with his newly minted learner’s permit. He has to have me or Ryan with him—and no one else while he is learning. Ryan already took him out driving and apparently he did quite well. Scared Ryan a bit. But they both survived. I’m so proud of him!!

Also this morning we hiked to Cecret Lake and had a beautiful time and I was not as tired as I was last year. So that feels good. It’s the hike we do with the highest elevation, and I can certainly feel it, but it was doable. And fever rests this time. The lake was green and perfect. And the sky blue. The rocks are all different colors and we saw a few glaciers. Lots of wildflowers still. Though you can tell summer is nearing its end. Fall is coming. I saw one tree whose leaves had already turned.

Tomorrow I start my new job. Ryan gave me a blessing and the boys have been so sweet and encouraging and helpful. And they start on Monday. I am looking forward to the new adventure. And I hope to be more open minded about trying new things. I’d love to be an adventurous person!

Saw Mike today at the hospital. It was kind of hard and sad. Not sure how he is really doing and what he needs. He seemed happy to see me. I was certainly grateful to see him. I just wish I knew how to help. I wonder how happy he is in his marriage sometimes. I wish he could find a good job and they could get an apartment. I hope and pray he can heal and feel strong enough to communicate what is going on for him and how we can help.
