JUNE

Happy June! I LOVE JUNE!   And I love the start of any month.  June is one of my favorites, for sure.  So much excitement about the start of summer, and the end of the school year.  So much to do and see.  Everything is so green still, and pineview is full, and there is still snow on the tops of the mountains.  It's just about perfect! Listened to June Hymn this morning taking the kids to school.  And Surfin' USA.  So much fun to see the excitement of the kids in finishing up the school year and having this change in their lives.  Last year was so different finishing up the online year.  It was good too, and we tried to make it different, but this year it's so very different and those changes in daily patterns with the seasons are good, I think.  Important in keeping us grounded and real and aware of time-passing.

This morning I went on a hike with my dad----Quail Trail Loop.  It's part of the Nature Center North, and it is lovely and rather short.  It was a cool, breezy, sunny morning with lots of flowers and dew and little streams running about.  We saw a beautiful young deer-- a buck right off the trail in a little meadow.  And lots of flowers and birds and rocks and the like.  And then we drove up past Monte Cristo to look for a moose.  We didn't see one, but I was happy to drive up there--- I had forgotten how beautiful it is.  It was nice of my dad to drive too, so I could enjoy the views, and not worry about whether or not the van would make it up the hills and around the curves.  Dad bought me lunch at Dylans, and then we bought crickets for Avo.  We fed him (had a heart-attack when we couldn't find him at first!!) and then went to pick up the boys.  They all had pretty great second-to-last days of school.  James came out of the school soaking wet! They played water games after the Fun Run.  I should say, "Fun" Run.  He finished it and I'm proud of him.  And William and Peter both had field days too, and lots of fun with friends whom they will miss this summer.

We went and ate donuts at Mt. Donut afterwards, and they were delicious! Mine was, for sure.

I need to fill out a bunch of forms to start my new job in the fall.  I told my dad about it and it was fun to think with him about what it might be like being an elementary school librarian.  I think it may well be the perfect job for me.  And I get to make money too!

Grateful for the last day of school tomorrow for these sweet kiddos.  And it's now five years since Grammy passed away.  I love her and miss her.  And I'm grateful I knew her and that the boys remember her.  And today is also Emma Giatris' birthday.  I believe she would have been 16 today.  Brother Giatris gave italian ice's to the kids at school today and played floor pong with them.  What an amazing seminary teacher! My heart breaks for him and his family, but their faith is such a testament to these sweet kids who are still grappling with their emotions about Emma's tragic death.

I am thankful for my life and for my boys and for sweet Ryan.  Grateful for the amazing blessing it is to be alive on June 1st, 2022!
