June 9: Hikes and Strep

I got some good time with Peter today hiking with just him and Grampy. Beautiful hike with tons of pets and just glorious weather. Lots of bugs too. But overall a wonderful hike and good to be out and nice to have time with Peter on the drive too. He doesn’t always seem to want to talk, and I get that. I’m the same way. And I don’t want to put too much pressure on him to do that. But know that he can whenever he needs or wants to. I think so much of parenting really comes down to being available. Emotionally and physically there when needed. He watched a psych on the way down and it is so fun to talk to him about the funny episodes and laugh along with him.

William and James did not go with us because they both had sore throats this morning and felt awful! So they stayed home and rested. And when I got home we went to the clinic. We had to wait a whole hour in our car. But I’m glad we did because when we finally got checked out we found that they both have strep🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️! I’m really glad we waited. And they are now on antibiotics  I hope and pray we caught it before it turned into anything. They are set up on the couch with their drinks and books and drawing stuff. I’m glad they can both be sick at the same time if they have to be sick. And I’m grateful for the times I listen to promptings. I need to do better at that. Grateful they have their medicine and we could watch some Alones together as a family. I sure love my boys. No fun being sick in the summer. But gives me a chance to slow down a little and take time to show them my love in taking care of sick ways. Otter pops and Gatorade and pillows and blankets. And going to read to them tomorrow.
