June 7: That’s the name of the game!

Today we tried to keep in our camping mode, but it wasn’t always easy. We started the day with a little outside play time. William made it through the night in the hammock. James got cold in the night and I came inside with him at 4:30. That felt very authentic—the getting cold and not sleeping great—and the smelling like smoke. But it was nice to be able to come inside and get into our nice warm comfy beds. We played Munchkin—for hours. It’s a long game when more than one person really wants to win!! We also played some video games and watched some psych. I talked to Chris on the phone and Ryan took the truck title over to Stan. We got the car insurance all taken care of.  We talked to Madi and my mom who walked Dolly over to our house. We got crickets for Avocado and shorts for Peter. I found a ModCloth dress with the tags still on for 16.49! James bought an off-brand nerf blaster. Saver’s is seriously my new favorite store!

We had chicken cordon blue for dinner and then we got to work on the vehicles. Trying to have them be ready for the real world again the next day. Ryan and I went to the auto parts store together for a little date, while Peter had his guitar lesson and will and James played Valheim. Then Ryan and will and Peter worked on cars all evening. Doing amazing things. James and I got ready for bed—in the hammock again for him. He slept in mine this time and went right to sleep before his brothers were even done with helping with the cars. He slept like a baby in there. William slept out again too. That is such a fun summer thing. I love my family and appreciate their resilience and willingness to try again when things don’t work out the first time.

Also, when we were playing munchkin and something infuriating happened we would just say, “That’s the name of the game! You munch your kin!”

Now I am reminded of Where the Wild Things Are and, “I’ll eat you up love you so!”

I just love them—not gonna eat them, but love them soo much! I love right now too. This summer. This week. This “camping” trip!
