Sister Diane Montague
Sister Montague and I have the same birthday. I am very proud of that fact. I miss her. She was hilarious and kind and funny and made people feel happy just being around her. She made people feel special. She knew she was okay, and knew she could not control others, that her children, husband, friends would make their own choices. But she was going to be the best version of herself and make the choices that would bring her joy. And she did that by loving others and serving them whole-heartedly. When we are not worried about what others think of us we can give more of ourselves to others. Because we know we are okay.
I am so grateful I knew her. I still think of her all the time. I hope I can emulate those qualities....and that I can have a lot of fun in life like she did. I can't imagine anyone else requesting that a clown-nose be placed on her nose in her coffin at her viewing anytime a child came by...just to keep things funny....to laugh even at her funeral.
I loved her so much.
Maybe next September I will have a September lunch for anyone in the ward with September birthdays.
